FIT Forum @ MACCS

Best Poster Competition


Fellows in Training (FIT) are invited to submit research abstracts and educational case reports to the MACCS meeting to be held on November 15, 20256. Submitted research abstracts will be considered for the Mid-Atlantic Capital Best Poster Contest. The Mid-Atlantic Capital Best Poster competition is sponsored by the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia Chapters  and the ACC Governors for the Public Health Service, Department of Defense and the District of Columbia.
 
Eligible Competitors
All adult and pediatric cardiology fellows, who are enrolled  in a training program in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania  or Virginia and provided they have been a fellow since July 1, 2026, are eligible to enter the Mid-Atlantic Capital Best Poster competition. 
Medical Students are not eligible to submit abstracts or cases.
 
Timing and Abstract Submission
Abstracts are to be submitted via Oxford Abstracts by September 25, 2026.
 
Abstracts may represent work in progress or may have been previously submitted for presentation at a national meeting in 2026. Each FIT can submit more than one research abstract, but no more than two as first author. No submissions of work already published in a journal will be accepted. Abstracts submitted to this regional competition are not precluded from submission for future national presentation. 

Abstract Review, Selection, Notification and Poster Gallery
All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by a select panel of physicians and, if accepted, notified on or after October 9, 2026. Accepted abstracts will be part of the in-person poster gallery, show by the first author FIT, during the FIT Forum meeting.

Prizes
The Mid-Atlantic Capital Best Poster winners will be announced at the FIT Forum meeting from the eligible participants by a designated judging committee. The committee will select the top “Mid-Atlantic Capital Best Posters” who will each receive $50 American Express Gift Cards.
 
Registration
Accepted Fellows must register for the meeting.

Additional Considerations
Fellows in training entering the competition must have significantly participated in the research endeavor (to be confirmed by the respective program director) and must be enrolled in a training program in one of the sponsoring chapters.


Residents' Competition


Residents who are enrolled in a program in one of the sponsoring chapters are invited to submit abstracts or case studies.

  • Submissions must be made by September 25, 2026 using Oxford Abstracts. Select "Resident" and either "Abstract or Case Study" when submitting your information. 
  • A minimum of the top three scoring submissions will be invited to present orally on Saturday, November 14 at Heart House. 
  • Remaining top scoring submissions will be eligible for virtual poster presentations (2025's virtual poster gallery). 
  • Medical Students are not eligible to submit abstracts or cases. 
  • Resident submissions will not be eligible for any prizes. 
    • Please note: a maximum of two submissions will be considered per first author
  • Selected submissions, invited to submit a virtual poster must be uploaded to a specified Dropbox folder no later than Monday, November 2, 2026.
